Luis Rivera was born in Naranjito, Puerto Rico and moved to Chicago with his parents in the early seventies. Luis’ love of music started at a very early age and now he has been a DJ for more than 20 years. Over the years, Luis has collected an incredible amount of music and has achieved an understanding and knowledge of Latin music that shows through the selections he plays on the dance floor.

Luis has had the pleasure of DJ for the Chicago International Salsa Congress 02, 03, 04, 05 & 06, Detroit Salsa Congress 02, West Coast Salsa Congress in Los Angeles 02, 03 & 04, & The World Salsa Congress in Ponce Puerto Rico in 2004. In November of 2004, he had the opportunity to go and Dj in the New York City Salsa Social scene under the direction of Julio Perez DJ “El Rumbero” for Salsa Dura Fridays, as well as, Choco of Mambo Fateegz dance socials. Luis is now a regular in the New York scene and travels often to DJ as several Salsa socials in New York.

In 2005, Luis was a radio co-host for “El Tornado Tropical” Radio Show on Chicago Public Radio for a worldwide audience and has worked alongside Chicago radio personality Irene Mojica. DJ Luis “Rollin” Rivera currently enjoys weekly residence at some of the top Salsa nights in Chicago including Salsa/Mambo Nights at Green Dolphin St on Tuesday nights, Buzz Salsa Nights on Wednesdays & Excalibur Nightclub Salsa Thursdays.

Luis has made a name for himself due to longevity in the industry, hard work, dedication, knowledge and the love of music! He is grateful to have had the opportunities to work doing something he loves. He also enjoys to make people dance and appreciate the music that he treasures so much.
